How Did You Come Up With This Craft?

If you are me, you love long walks through Hobby Lobby or any other craft store. The craft store I was walking through was Hobby Lobby. I was looking for inspiration for my Halloween crafts when I went through the yarn section and saw a free little pamphlet.

Within this pamphlet, they had cute little fun plastic canvas crafts. What caught my eye was the cute little plastic canvas cactus. Of course, I immediately thought that would be awesome for the blog and cute as a home decor item.

Well, I put the pamphlet down and kept walking because I knew I would not have the time, nor was I going to find the perfect little plant pot for this.

The universe had something different in mind…

As I was walking through the aisles, I came to the clearance, clearance aisle. You know, the aisle that is 90% off with many mix-match items.

As I was browsing the aisle, I saw the cutest little plant pot, which was perfect for that plastic canvas project I told myself I didn’t have time to do.

So in true Amanda fashion, I backed track and grabbed the pamphlet and what else I needed for this project.

Supplies You Need

Like all of our other one-hour crafts, this craft doesn’t need a lot of supplies either.

  • Needle
  • Green Yarn (your choice of shade)
  • Red Yarn
  • Plastic Canvas 3” Circles
  • Scissors
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Binder Clips or Paper Clips

How to Complete the Plastic Canvas Cactus?

Here’s what the pamphlet said.

Wait, These Are Vague. How Did You Do It?

For starters, I stitched the circles as I went. As I finished each one, I used the binder and paper clips to mold them into the desired shape.

Also, you’ll notice that it calls for 6 circles; I opted to use 4, which I don’t think made much of a difference either.

Lastly, make a pom-pom out of the red yarn.

Assembling

Now, assembling was probably the most challenging part. I was able to glue the backs of all of them together. It looked off; that’s when I decided to pinch the bottoms and some of the tops to make it have some volume, hence why mine looks the way it does.

Lastly, glue the pom-pom on top and stick it in some decorative rocks in your plant pot, and you are ready to go.

Do I Approve the Plastic Canvas Cactus?

Without instructions, this project will not be for those just getting started. But for someone who has done several projects just from pictures on Pinterest, it’s an easy little thing, and you can figure it out.

Do I love it? Sure. It was an easy little project and added a little color to a bland bookshelf, so what’s not to love?
