Decorating a Small Bathroom On a Tiny Budget (Under $50)

I find myself on the decorating side of Youtube quite often. I love what they do with their spaces, but I sometimes need help to fathom how much they spend on supplies. I am not blessed to have that money waiting for me to spend it. This got me thinking about decorating my small bathroom on a tiny budget.

Here’s everything I’ve learned while trying to decorate my small bathroom on a tiny budget!

What Is the Best Way To Decorate a Small Bathroom?

Before I could decorate, I wanted to see how I could optimize my space. My bathroom in my apartment is 5’x9’. So, it’s a bit on the tinier side where a lot of things that a bigger bathroom wouldn’t work well with this smaller bathroom.

Mirrors

A mirror is a big thing! You want a decent mirror because it will make your bathroom feel and look bigger. Thankfully, my complex already had a bigger mirror installed above my vanity, so I didn’t have to ask permission to install another one in its place! Yay! Money saved.

Light and Bright Color Choices

I love deeper, darker colors, but that won’t work for this bathroom! You shouldn’t do deep or dark colors in a bathroom of this size to make it feel brighter and more significant.

When picking a color theme, you should learn about light greys, creams, whites, and light blues. I chose light blues, greys, and whites for my bathroom color scheme.

Glass Shower Door/Keep Shower Curtain Open

When you are not working with a lot of space, you don’t want what little room to be blocked off. This is why, if you have a shower door, make sure it is clear glass, or take the door off, which will open up the space.

For those with shower curtains, don’t close your shower curtain when not in use. That means keeping your shower presentable if you are an entertainer, but it will make your bathroom feel much more prominent. I promise you.

Keep Clutter Free

Don’t go overboard with decor. Your bathroom is tiny. Your wall real estate is small. Don’t use it all for decor, shelves, etc. Keep everything minimal, so every piece you bring in should help compliment the space, not clutter it.

Where Can I Purchase Decor for My Small Bathroom On a Tiny Budget?

The fun part is finally here! I’ve learned how to maximize my bathroom space, and now I can decorate it tastefully, but I don’t have much of a budget. Where can I purchase bathroom decor items without breaking the bank?

Thrift Stores

Thrift stores are great. I love them. They are a great resource when you are on a low budget and need items. You should never sleep on heading out thrifting when starting any low-budget project.

I was able to find my decor from Goodwill. All of the bathroom decor I purchased was new from here was new. I was shocked that they had this decor in the shop, but I was pleased with my find, which was only a few dollars per item.

Flea Markets

Just like thrift stores, flea markets are also a great resource. Find a good flea market close to home, and you will never have to purchase things at full price again. Unfortunately, I didn’t find anything to do with my theme for this bathroom decor project, but I found many other themed bathroom decor and more.

Garage Sales

On weekends, someone is always having a garage sale. This can be a gold mine if you don’t mind spending your weekend mornings going from sale to sale. You can find some good things at even lower costs than thrift stores and flea markets. When on the hunt for small bathroom decor, I would put this on your to-do list.

Discount Stores

Discount stores like Ross, Marshalls, and TJ Maxx are great. Of course, they are a bit more pricey than the other options on this list, but they still are worth looking at. You can get name-brand items for a fraction of the cost.

I got my bathroom soap dispenser, toothbrush holder, and decorative cup from Ross for around $20. Plus, it was a nearly direct match to my color scheme!

Facebook Marketplace

If you don’t have time to go to the above stores, there’s another option. Online shopping! The Facebook marketplace makes sit easy for you to search for bathroom decor and view everything sold in and around your area. Plus, just like garage sales, most of the time, people are selling it for very cheap or even giving it away.  This is a game changer when money is an issue.

Short On Funds for your Bathroom Decor?

When decorating your bathroom, you should make sure that you are keeping things light and bright. Always remember that there are ways to get items to decorate your small bathroom on a tiny budget. You need to put in the work.

If you are tight on funds, don’t worry, I have a giant list of sites where you can work and make part-time income from your home. You don’t want to miss those opportunities; even people like you can easily do them.
