What Makes Boston Lobster Feast a Must-Visit for Seafood Lovers?

Boy, oh boy! I haven’t written up a dining review in a good solid month since my Nine Spices Hot Pot review last month! If you are interested, I say you should check it out! However, today, we will discuss another Orlando restaurant called the Boston Lobster Feast

I-Drive, Orlando Tourist District

If you’ve been following along with my past few posts about how my credit union allowed me to travel for free, you would remember that I headed to Orlando, Florida (an hour’s drive) with my sister, Vanessa. We went to Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Museum and Wonderworks. Am I right that you can’t go to Orlando without trying some restaurants?

Well, this is where the Boston Lobster Feast comes into play. Originally, when we were heading to Orlando, I told Vanessa I wanted to try Korean BBQ. Naturally, we had a Korean BBQ place to go to, about a 15-minute drive from where we were going to be.

Of course, things change on a whim if you know Vanessa and me. When we realized that Wonderworks and Ripley’s were within walking distance, we decided we might see what else was out there. Of course, if you’ve been to Orlando, you know International Drive is the place for tourists.

Boston Lobster Feast Menu & Pricing

That’s where we stumbled upon Boston Lobster Feast. Boston Lobster Feast is a seafood buffet with lobster, of course.

Boston Lobster Feast has been serving all-you-can-eat lobster and other seafood for over 25 years. They are open Monday through Friday, 4 pm to 10 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays, open from 2 pm to 10 pm. You can find anything from sushi to soups to different kinds of mussels, shrimp, oysters, and much more.

When we found this place, we thought it would be perfect until we looked at the price. The price for early bird (before 6 pm) is $47.95 per person, and if you come after 6 pm, the price goes up to $51.95. So, as you can see, you are putting your money where your mouth is when it comes to this place.

The reviews seemed to be decent enough. I know there were bad reviews about the lobsters, but then again, I brushed those off because people from around the nation come here, and let’s be honest, not everyone gets seafood where they are from. Not everyone knows how to enjoy seafood, either. I once heard about someone eating a shrimp cocktail with a shell on. Yes! So, I take many of those reviews with a grain of salt.

After a bit of back and forth with Vanessa, we decided it was in the middle of our walk down to Wonderworks, so why not give it a try? I can hold my own, but I was worried about Ms. Vanessa doing the same.

We got there a few minutes before 6 pm, and it was already pretty much at capacity. The main dining room we were in was packed with people. We sat immediately, ordered our drinks, and were released to the buffet in the backside of the dining room.

We walked up, and we went to the “starter” bar, where they had oysters, mussels, shrimp cocktail, salad, and sushi laid out for us. The line was already getting long for it just opening at 4 pm!

We grabbed a quick plate (mine was already full when we left the “starter” bar) and sat down to see how this food was.

How Was the Food?

Of course, you don’t want to know about my entire time at the Boston Lobster Feast, you want to know if it is worth it. Was the food good? Will I be going back?

Overall, the food wasn’t like, “Oh my goodness! I want to come back here again and again to this buffet.” Now, it’s not to say it wasn’t terrible where I didn’t enjoy the food either, because I did. But at the end of the day, it was buffet quality. It wasn’t fancier because of the price. It wasn’t of higher quality. It was buffeted with food quality. Point. Blank!

Of course, some scrumptious things on the buffet line, like the New England Clam Chowder soup, Prime Rib, Caesar Salad, and Crab Legs, were good too. All the other food was great too, but it didn’t “wow” me as these items did.

Now, let’s talk about the lobster they advertise. I am not technically a lobster person. I’ve had lobster before, I like lobster, but it’s not something I tend to get when I go out for a lobster feast. But on my last plate, I finally caved in and let myself try it. I wanted to see if it would be a dud like people were saying or if it would be great, like what people in this buffet thought.

Well, my lobster felt like it was steamed too long. It was tough. It was flavorless. Even putting it in butter didn’t help. I’ve had lobsters from Red lobster and other seafood establishments, and they tasted much better than this. I was disappointed. I had some high hopes thinking this lobster would be mouth-watering, but in the end, I received a bland, tough lobster.

Will I Be Back?

Will I be back, you may ask? At this price point, I will say no, I will not be back. Yes, I received great service from our waitress, but the food didn’t stand out to me to want to come back. It didn’t make me want to drop another $60 again. I didn’t leave unhappy, I left with a full tummy and a walk to Wonderworks, but I didn’t leave thinking it was worth coming back to the Boston Lobster Feast when there are so many more restaurant locations in International Drive.
