DIY Dollar Tree Snow Globe Under $5

Ever since I was a little girl, I always loved the holidays. I loved the decorations, I love the festivities, and I loved the food. Of course, gifts were a bonus, but one thing as I age I try to keep in my own tradition is working on holiday decor and this is where the DIY Dollar Tree Snow Globe came into a reality.

Pinterest for Anything DIY

I absolutely love Pinterest. Recently, I’ve been on Pinterest seeing so many cute DIY christmas decor that I am absolutely smitten with. However, a few days later I headed down to my local Dollar Tree to pick up a few items unrelated to crafting when I saw they had Christmas decor out.

Yes, I know it’s only September and I should be angry that they already have some Christmas decor out, but the crafter in me was too excited. I was excited to pick up a few items to start on my holiday DIY list that is now longer than a CVS receipt.

What Did I Pick Up From the Dollar Tree?

The Dollar Tree didn’t have a large selection of Christmas stuff up yet, but they did have plastic ornaments, mini fake christmas trees, fake snow, and the like. You know the stuff us crafters are always seeking and need to buy before the season starts.

I decided to pick up a few ornaments, a snow globe (hence the title of this post), mini christmas tree,s and the fake snow. I didn’t go completely overboard, but this should tide me over for a little bit on crafting up some wonderful DIY Christmas projects and blog posts!

DIY Dollar Tree Snow Globe

You’re probably thinking, I’ve seen a snow globe through my Pinterest journey, and I have to say that is not true. Surprisingly, I never seen a Christmas snow globe recommended to me. That doesn’t mean they are out there but this was just an inspiration after all of the posts I’ve seen.

Here’s what you will need to complete the snow globe:

  • A snow globe
  • Hot glue gun with hot glue
  • Mini Christmas trees
  • Fake snow

Directions on Making Your DIY Dollar Tree Snow Globe

It’s fairly simple, you will need to disassemble your snow globe. You will be gluing the Christmas trees to the plastic part in the globe (not the twisty top).

You can decorate using as many mini Christmas trees as you’d like. I chose three trees for this one to make it look like a tree line. Of course, you can add a little figure of a person as well, but the Dollar Tree I went to didn’t have any. I may add it at a later date.

Once you are done, you will want to add in your fake snow. I put in a little more than other people normally would because I wanted to not see the little stumps of the tree. If you want to make it look like snow is falling down without adding liquid, I highly recommend adding Polycrylic to most of the globe and only having a small window to see through. You can then add the fake snow to coat it, giving it more dimension.
