- Small plastic canvas sheets
- Yarn in various colors
- Plastic canvas needle
- Scissors
- Easter egg pattern template (such as the one provided in the image below)
Steps for Making the Easter Egg Basket
Since this pattern I found on Pinterest didn’t have the steps for creating the small plastic canvas Easter Egg Basket, I decided to put the directions in this post to make it easier for those who are new at doing plastic canvas.
Follow these steps to make your own small plastic canvas Easter egg basket:
- Cut out plastic canvas pieces using the pattern template as a guide. You will need two pieces for each side of the egg and one piece for the bottom.
- Thread the plastic canvas needle with yarn and begin stitching the two pieces together along the edges using a whipstitch.
- Repeat step 3 to stitch the remaining plastic canvas pieces together until you have a complete egg shape.
- Cut a length of ribbon or string to use as a handle and attach it to the top of the egg using yarn and a plastic canvas needle.
- Optional: Decorate the egg basket with additional embroidery or embellishments as desired.
How Did I Like Easter Egg Basket?
While it was easy to make and great for beginner plastic canvas individuals, I honestly, didn’t like the way it looked when all said and done. Of course, everyone that I showed loved it, but I just didn’t like it. I know I didn’t add on the bunny and that could have made it look better. I just didn’t take the time to try to put on the bunny since the patter was so hard to look at when blowing it up.
Of course, you can always do crazy egg patterns which would have made it look a bit better. It’s completely up to you. I always say take your own creative approach to these patterns.
Tips and Tricks
- To make the egg basket sturdier, consider using a double thickness of plastic canvas for each piece.
- Experiment with different color combinations and stitch patterns to make your egg basket unique.
- Use a small amount of clear glue to secure loose yarn ends and prevent unraveling.
