Can You Use Disney Gift Cards in Disney Springs?

Picture this: you’re on your “once in a lifetime” trip to Walt Disney World. Your family has given you Disney gift cards to spend throughout the resort, but you don’t know where you can use them in the shopping district known as Disney Springs.

Today, I’ll be your guide to show you all the places your Disney gift card can be used within Disney Springs.

What Is Disney Springs?

Disney Springs is a shopping district owned by the Walt Disney World Corporation. It officially opened in 1975 under the name Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village. Although the name changed throughout the next few decades, the area’s premise remained the same. This area would always be a fun-filled afternoon of shopping, dining, and making more memories outside of the Disney theme parks.

If you’d like more in-depth information on Disney Springs, its history, how to get there, dining reviews, and more; I recommend you check out my Planning A Visit to Disney Springs post.

What is a Disney Gift Card?

If you’re a newcomer to the Happiest Place on Earth, I want to welcome you first and foremost. I know planning your first Walt Disney World Vacation is a lot of work, and there are so many new terms you’re learning.

But a big thing you’ll see is guests talking about Disney gift cards. What are they? How can they be used?

Well, a Disney gift card is like any other gift card out there. It can be used on Disney property. This means you can use it in the parks, to pay for your hotel or food, on the Disney Store website, and even in Disney Springs.

Where to Purchase Disney Gift Cards?

You can purchase Disney gift cards wherever gift cards are sold. The increments for Disney gift cards are $25 to $500. If you are buying a lot of Disney gift cards in bulk, use your Target Red Card to get 5% off.

Where Can You Use Disney Gift Cards?

As I previously stated, you can use Disney gift cards anywhere on Disney property. That means you can use your Disney gift cards in the parks to pay for your merchandise, food, Disney hotels, their online store, their character warehouses over here in Orlando, Florida, and even at Disney Springs.

2024 Complete List of Where You Can Use Disney Gift Cards in Disney Springs

As a native Floridian who lives rather close to the Disney property, I see more often than not the question: Where can you use your Disney gift card in Disney Springs?

As you’ve seen, you can use it anywhere on Disney property, but using your Disney gift card in Disney Springs can be quite tricky. It’s tricky in the sense that many of these shops at Disney Springs are not owned and operated by Disney. They are essentially leasing out a space on Disney property to do their business, so this means they do not have to accept Disney gift cards as one of their payment types.

However, many of the non-owned and operated places within Disney Springs do accept Disney gift cards. I’ve scoured the internet and done independent research at Disney Springs over the past few weeks, and here is the list of places that currently (as of August 2024) accept Disney gift cards in Disney Springs.

FAQ

Why Can’t You Use Starbucks Rewards Stars at Disney, But You Can in Disney Springs?

There are a few lines you’ll end up waiting in while you are on your Walt Disney World Vacation and one of those lines will be the Starbucks line. If you’re in the theme parks, you’ll notice that you cannot use your Starbucks Rewards Stars.

However, if you are in Disney Springs, you’re able to use your Starbucks Rewards Stars since they are corporate stores in these locations. Keep that in mind, before waiting in a long line to only be let down!

What is the Disney Dining & Merchandise Credit?

A common question I see about gift cards is what the Disney Dining and Merchandise credit is and how it can be used.

First, the Disney Dining and Merchandise Credit is essentially an electronic gift card that can be used just like any other Disney gift card. However, the only difference is that you get this through your email once you check in at your Walt Disney World Resort. Depending on your room and ticket package, you can receive up to $2,100. To view the entire list of where you can use your Disney Dining & Merchandise Credit, you’ll want to bookmark this for future reference

Is Disney Rewards the Same as Disney Gift Cards?

If you’re a Chase Disney Visa Credit Card holder, you’ll notice you have something called Disney Reward Dollars. Disney Reward Dollars are not the same as a Disney gift card. They can be used at various places, such as Disney Movies, shopping, cruise Lines, parks, and Resorts.

Can I Use Non-Disney Gift Cards at Participating Stores?

Let’s say you don’t have Disney gift cards for your vacation, but you still have a Sephora gift card from your birthday that you want to use, can you?

The answer is yes! All gift cards that you can purchase for those particular stores will also work as a payment method alongside your Disney gift cards. It doesn’t matter if it’s a Landry’s gift card to pay for your meal or if it’s a Sephora gift card to pay for your makeup. Your gift card will work at that certain location, like anywhere else in the world.

Can I Roll Multiple Disney Gift Cards Into One Gift Card?

The answer is yes. Yes, you can combine multiple gift cards into one using the Disney Gift Card official website.

You’ll need to create an account. Click on My Cards. Input your card information. Select the card to which you want to transfer funds. Rinse and repeat until all funds are on one card. Also, a small tip: Once you’re done, unlink that card from your account. I’ve heard horror stories throughout the years where people’s accounts get hacked, and their Disney gift cards are wiped clean.
